My husband and I saw Sweeney Todd on Friday night. We thought the cast was so talented in the way that they sang, played instruments and moved the set during the performance. Unfortunately, the audience bolted for the doors before giving the actors their due. How sad! We loved it. Thank you for a wonderful performance!

We just saw the show tonight! It was great! I'm not gonna lie. We were sitting in the rear balcony for act one, and to be honest, it was pretty confusing, but then I saw some seats open down in the front row of the orchestra, so for act 2 we went down there, and the story and the words became so much clearer! We went to the stage door and met the actors who were all very nice and stayed and talked with everyone there! Lizzie, who played Mrs. Lovitts was great and this is her first professional performance, and the first time playing that role!!!!! Great job all around!

I have had season tickets for the Broadway Series for several years. In my opinion, this was the worse show I have seen. The words to the songs (which never ended) were untelligible which made understanding the plot impossible.
I left at intermission and thought about leaving sooner but kept hoping the production would get better.

This is the worst show ever. We left at intermission and we were not alone.

My friends and I went Saturday night and did not like the show - we left at intermission. It was difficult to follow who was who and what was happening and where with the actors also being the orchestra. It was just too confusing. I realize this is a new trend in staging, but it doesn't always work. My friends and I were happy with our seats, though, and can't wait for the next show!

I went to the Matinee Show yesterday-10/19 with my niece who wanted to see Sweeney Todd. I felt like a little kid with a smile on my face the whole time. I have gone to Broadway and seen shows, but this time, watching the show with my niece, experiencing this with her. That was wonderful. I think the cast all had beautiful voices, but I especially like the one who played Johanna....

I am in disagreement with those who did not enjoy the show.
Knowing the original production and having seen the movie, I appreciated this innovative take on this great piece of theatre. The performers were extremely talented and professional. The concept of having the actions take place in the psychologically disturbed Tobias's head was truly wonderful. It was dark, humorous, frightening, and intense, and I loved it.

I had seen Sweeney Todd at the Good Speed years ago and loved it. I was very dispointed in this new version. If you didn't know the story line, you would be completley lost. By not performing it as a period piece it lost all it's idenity and humor. We had great seats, row B orchestra, but we also left at intermission.

I saw the show on Tuesday and I thought it was amazing. I saw it on Broadway a couple times and this touring cast did a pretty great job. It makes me sad that people can't appreciate theatre that is different and innovative. Just the mere fact that these actors were not only singing and acting but playing the whole orchestration is amazing and it disgusts me that people left at intermission. I was there with 5 other people (all of us professional actors) and we thought the show was great. Rock On to the Bushnell for giving us a diverse start to a great season!

I saw the show on Sunday 19th and as I was impressed with the actors/musicians doing dual roles, I found the flow of the play at times confusing and the lyrics and words inaudible. Very hard to pay attention to the meanings. The only magnificent thing that I can say about the whole evening was dining at Max's at the Bushnell, this is a must do for anyone. Great atmosphere, fine service, stunning wine and the most scrumptuous meal. A must do before seeing any show at the Bushnell.

I'm in agreement with Kimberly, Erik, and Amanda! I thought it was great it was amazing that the actors could play all the different instruments and sing and act! We met the cast at the stage door and they were all very pleasant. I do agree that it was difficult to understand the words, but only if you were in the back, as I said before, we were in the 2nd to last row and could barely understand, but I had seen the movie which helped, and then Act 2 was clear as day! I loved the innovation of the set up of the show. Personally I do not think that you should in any way be angered with the Bushnell! They did nothing wrong, they brought something different to Hartford and it was great. I think if you have a problem with the set up, songs, length, lyrics, actors, etc., you should contact Stephen Sondhiem. And in case you didn't know, he is beloved in the theatre world, so if you think you could do better and have more success, I challenge you to try. "Personally I do not think you have what it takes. I hope you prove me wrong. I doubt you will." (Just a little quote from Wicked considering it is Wicked Week and all.)

I felt sorry for the audience members who had never seen Sweeney Todd before and thought this was it....I hope that they get to seen another production but should check with the theater to make sure that it is not another "symbolic" production as this one was.
I do give credit to the cast for their beautiful voices.( I have seats in row G) and did not have any problems understanding the words. I've seen the play twice and the movie once so I am familiar with the songs. I was distracted by the cast playing their own musical instruments.
Looking forward to the remainder of the season.
