Jersey Boys makes its Connecticut premiere!

We are so excited that the 2006 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Jersey Boys is making its Connecticut premiere at The Bushnell beginning tomorrow night, and running through February 22! This is the hottest ticket in Hartford, and we'd love to know what you think of the show! The New York Post raves "TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!" - do you agree?

It was great! I can't believe how talented the performers are - especially Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons. Couldn't help but sing along.
The only drawback was that our seats were too close (row BB). We had neck strain by the time the show was over.

i am very upset about the jersey boys show. my children gave us two tickets for thursdays matinee in hartford we came to hartford a whole hour early and couldnt find a parking place anywhere. we were directed to go to about 4 streets down the road, on the coldest afternoon mind you. we rode around for another hour, just before the opening of the show and to no avail. needless to say, we missed our show. we had good seats waiting for us and were all set to make this trip to hartford which we never do and were so upset we couldnt park anywhere in sight. noone told us there wouldnt be valet parking either. it is near impossible to come to a matinee during a work week i see. this was a very bad first experience coming to the bushnell. i feel so bad for my kids that we had to lose these tickets. we wont even tell them we couldnt enjoy their gift. we had to tell a white lie that we saw the show. thank goodness they didnt ask too many questions.

We saw the Jersey Boys last night. It was FABULOUS! I didn't want the show to end. As ten year series ticket holders this is one of the best shows we have ever seen at the Bushnell. I can't wait to see it again. I hope you bring it back next year. The talent in this touring cast was superb and the way the story and music were woven together was seamless.

The back story that this show tells is evidence that hard work does pay off and loyalties within this group were very deep. I agree with what Bob Gaudio says in the video clip on your website. This show could very well do better than the Four Seasons did when they were touring! I hope it does!!!

I host a Broadway music radio program every Sunday night from 5:30-6:30 pm on WRTC-FM, 89.3. You can read my review of Jersey Boys by clicking here.

You can listen to this week's broadcast which features jukebox musicals, including excerpts from Jersey Boys, by clicking here. You can also download the past few years of my show at this website.

Scott Galbraith:

Dear Ms. Bikowski,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. One of the reasons we created this blog was to give our guests the opportunity to provide feedback, so we’re grateful that you did.

As indicated by your blog post, parking scarcity and a downtown urban area on a weekday tend to go hand-in-hand. Thankfully, for the vast majority of our performances, be it Jersey Boys or anything else, the parking lots directly across Capitol Avenue are ample, and available for our guests. Regrettably, such was not the case Thursday afternoon, as those lots were for the exclusive use of State employees. While we cannot control the availability of parking, we made sure alternative parking suggestions specific to the matinee were posted on our website. Despite that proactive effort, we are already looking into other methods by which we might be helpful to our guests in the future.

Regrettably, this information is coming too late to salvage your first experience. I trust your next one will be far better. What’s more, thanks to you, other blog readers may now be more informed as well. So, again, I thank you for sharing your story.

Sincerely,
Scott Galbraith
Vice President, Programming

My mom & I attended the Saturday matinee performance on February 7th. Both of us agreed that this was one of the best shows we have seen at the Bushnell, and I have been a subscriber for several years. The performers were excellent, the music superb, and the story line and the music were put together seamlessly - the whole experience was immensely enjoyable for us. Truly worth the price of admission. We really wanted to see it again and bring my sister, but too late to find three good seats together on a day we all could make it. Hopefully this show will return!

Angelo Gesmundo:

Terrific Show! We have seen Jersey Boys twice and would go back to see it again. Everything was wonderful...acting, choreography, music etc. The singing was marvelous...reminiscent of a different point in time...nostalgic! Frankie Valli/Graham Fenton was incredible!!!

Me and my dad went to see Jersey Boys on Thursday night, February 5th. And as the lyrics say, "Oh, What A Night!" And boy, it was definitely one of the best nights me and my dad had at the Bushnell. This show was absolutely phenomenonal! This was much more than a musical, this was a story put on stage with so much complexion. The acting felt like that they were the real Jersey Boys from the 60's! My only real problem was that the songs could've went longer because the songs were some of the best songs I've heard from actors like that. Forget one of the best musicals at the Bushnell, This was one of the best musicals I have ever seen!

Kristina:

I absolutely loved this show! I was entertained throughout the whole thing, and listened to Frankie Valli as soon as I came home! I HIGHLY recommend it!

Bryan Austermann:

We saw the show last night and it was very good! We enjoyed ourselves the whole time. In all honesty the show was very good, but not as good as i had expected it to be, but only probably because i had built it up in my brain too much, but i wasnt let down by it at all.. my favorite part of it was the music by far.

Christopher Winters:

I brought a group of 28 down from Portland, Maine to see this show and all agreed it was well worth the 3 1/2 hours each way. Everyone loved the show and the seats. What a beautiful theater! I am sure many will want to see the show again this summer when it is in Boston. I'm seeing it again this Thursday! By the way, I have seen this show 4 times now and this had to be the best production of all.

Donna:

This was by far the best show I have been to at The Bushnell. The music and story-line were both amazing. I felt as though I was watching and even more-so listening to Frankie Valli!!! Hooray.
Boo to the people sitting behind us who tapped us on our shoulders and asked us to sit down during the standing ovation. Shame on you.

dj:

We have now seen this show in Chicago, New York and Hartford. The touring production at the Bushnell is every bit as good as the others. I have no doubt that if this show returns to Hartford in a year it will play to sold out houses again every night.

donna:

My husband and I saw the show on tuesday night, 2/17. It was the best show we've seen; the music, the actors, the flow from scene to scene was flawless. We live in the berkshires and stayed over night in hartford for a perfect getaway. We love the Bushnell, please keep up the fabulous productions.

Linda Gesualdi:

I just saw Jersey Boys tonight (Feb. 19). It was a stellar performance!!!!I enjoyed every moment! I had wanted to see it in New York, Los Angeles or Las Vegas and none of my plans worked out. But, it was meant to be that I finally saw it at the Bushnell, where I also saw my very first concert, almost 40 years ago....Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons!!!!!Tonight's show was the second best show I have ever seen at the Bushnell, second only to that concert! Loved both! By the way, if you happen to know the actual date of that concert some 40 or so years ago, could you let me know. Thanks!!!!

Joan Baldyga Brown:

My husband and I saw The Jersey Boys last Sunday and I must say it was the best production we've ever seen - it even surpassed "Hairspray" on Broadway! The cast was unbelievably talented, especially the gentleman that played Frankie Valli! What a terrific way to spend a Sunday afternoon. If it were still playing - we'd go see it again!

K. Strauss:

We saw the Jersey Boys evening performance on 2/8/09 and enjoyed it so much we decided to see it again! Graham Fenton was fabulous - as was the entire cast. We happened to get tickets to the matinee performance on 2/22/09 and Joseph Leo Bwarie was perfect in the Frankie Valli role. Additionally, I would like to compliment The Bushnell for providing sign language interpreters for the deaf and hard of hearing patrons - they were obviously enjoying the performance as much as the hearing audience.

We have seen Jersey Boys twice and would go back to see it again. Everything was wonderful.
