Rehearsals are starting this week here at The Bushnell for Greater Tuna - our latest adventure in producing! Greater Tuna, which is a hilarious social satire that takes place in the third-smallest town in Texas, stars the talented Neal Mayer and Brian Mathis, who, between the two of them, play over 20 parts - the men, the women, the pets - EVERYONE in the little town of Tuna!
Greater Tuna is experiencing a bit of a "coming home" here in Hartford, as it started its national tour at Hartford Stage Company 20 years ago. We are so excited to be producing this side-splitting comedy, and hope you join us at the show, running May 26-31!

I had an opportunity to see the preview performance of Greater Tuna last night, and had a great time. Each character connects with the audience, despite being portrayed by just two talented actors. If you think nothing of note ever happens in a small town, catch the daily news of Greater Tuna. If you need some laughs, and who doesn't, catch this Tuna.

Just returned from seeing Greater Tuna. Thumbs down! The actors
did their best, but if you closed your eyes, you wouldn't tell one character from another and the chuckles were few and far between.
The performance seemed flat; perhaps it would work better in a smaller venue. We didn't leave at intermission like those around us, but it
didn't get any better. Barb & Dave

Last week we saw the Greater Tuna.. in fact the couple we normally go with was unable to attend so we invited our neighbor... and I wish we didn't! Over our 10yrs with the Bushnell, we have seen some very good performances and some not so good...but this was the worst of the worst! By seeing the parking lot and seats half empty on a Saturday night should have been a warning... and quite a few of us left at intermission. The play was terrible to say the least...
