As we see the end of The Bushnell's 2008-2009 season rapidly approaching, we find ourselves reflecting on the past year. Our country has seen a lot of change, and has endured - and is still enduring - difficult economic times. However, it is in times like these that many people are drawn to the arts - whether it be a musical, visual art show, concert, dance performance, or something else - for comfort, inspiration, hope and escape. In hard times, people embrace things of true value, and we believe that a life rich in culture and the arts is one of the most valuable things in the world.
What have the arts meant to you this past year? What have been the highlights for you? Do you make the arts a big part of your life - and how? And most importantly, why?

Hello....
To me, the desire to create and enjoy art is part of what it means to be human. We must nurture this from a very young age. That's why I have devoted the past 13 years to writing and performing music exclusively for kids and families.
I have toured throughout the country and would love to perform at The Bushnell. I would email you privately but can't seem to find a way to do that here on your website.
Please visit my website at www.judypancoast.com and if you like what you see and hear, please email to discuss the possibilities!
Thank you for your consideration!

The arts mean everything to me. I honestly do not know what I would do with my life without them. I am a performer, but I never overlook all the other aspects that are needed to put together a show, any show. There are so many moving parts that need to work seamlessly with each other in order to put on a successful show and whenever the curtain rises and falls at the end of act two without any major glitches, those parts are moving as they should. I have thoroughly enjoyed this season at The Bushnell, seeing five of the seven series shows (Greater Tuna and Color Purple excluded). My parents and some of my friends even saw Phantom (a show I would have attended, had I not had a rehearsal for FAME that night!) Each show was vastly different and I loved every one of them. I am also looking forward to next season! Mel Brooks is hilarious, August: Osage County - what can I say? I'm dying to see that show, In the Heights! - saw the PBS special and now am more excited than before, Spring Awakening - such a moving show, seen it twice and now get a chance to bring people who didnt get a chance to see it on Broadway to it!, South Pacific - all I hear is good about that show, and Porgy and Bess - honestly dont know much about that show, but I know it's a classic. The arts have the power to move people to tears to uncontrolable excitement to a combination of the both it is just amazing. This year, 2009, I have performed in 8 productions of different shows already and get to work at an amazing theatre, The Red Door Theatre, all summer long, so I have been going pretty much nonstop so far. And no matter how tired I get or how frustrated I am if things arent coming together, or anything, no feeling ever beats working with people who care about what they are doing and working on something that I want to do for the rest of my life. This year also brought immense sadness to my life because on March 9, 2009 I, along with hundreds and hundreds of other people, lost the most amazing man I have ever met in my life, Van Farrier. Van wasn't a Broadway star, but he was the biggest star I have ever met because he taught people about the theater and the arts and why we should all love it. He had a connection to every single person he ever met. He was an amazing actor on top of it all. Van got people to appreciate the theater who you never would think could do such a thing. His passion and drive for what he did will always be an inspiration to me. The arts live in so many people and effect each person on this earth in a different and unique way. The arts will never leave my life, and I'm sure they will never leave my mind, sight, heart, thoughts even a little bit. What do the arts mean? Everything.
