Inspirational Voices Bring Great Joy to Hartford

Grammy-nominated choir featuring Phylicia Rashad, Adriane Lenox,
and Cheyenne Jackson in Gospel Christmas concert


Hartford, CT – November 16, 2007 – Broadway Inspirational Voices, one of the tri-states' foremost Gospel choirs, comes to The Bushnell for an evening of holiday cheer with Great Joy: A Gospel Christmas, Monday, December 17, 2007 at 7:30 pm.  Come hear and enjoy this Grammy-nominated choir sing some of your favorite holiday songs and other favorites from their Gospel repertoire.  The choir will feature the voices of such Broadway greats as Phylicia Rashad (of “The Cosby Show” fame), Adriane Lenox, and Cheyenne Jackson.

Tickets for Great Joy: A Gospel Christmas are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting The Bushnell Box Office at 166 Capitol Avenue in Hartford or by calling (860) 987-5900.  Tickets may also be purchased online at www.bushnell.org.  Groups of 20 or more should call (860) 987-5959.  Tickets prices are $20-$42.

Broadway Inspirational Voices, founded Michael McElroy (Rent, The Wild Party, Blue), is comprised of multi-racial Broadway performers that represent such shows as: Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Hairspray, Tarzan, Mary Poppins, The Color Purple, The Lion King, Wicked, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.  Broadway Inspirational Voices (BIV) has been seen on "The Today Show," "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," The Tony Awards, and in concerts on Broadway, Carnegie Hall and the Crystal Cathedral in Anaheim, California. This versatile choir has performed with such musical greats as: Elton John, Patti LaBelle, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Vanessa Williams, Stephanie Mills, and Oleta Adams.

Phylicia Rashad’s Broadway credits include Gem of the Ocean (nominated 2005 Tony Award Best Actress in a Play), A Raisin In The Sun (winner 2004 Tony Award Best Actress in a Play and 2004 Drama Desk Award Outstanding Actress in a Play), Blue, Jelly’s Last Jam, Into The Woods, Dreamgirls, The Wiz, Ain’t Supposed To Die A Natural Death.

Adriane Lenox’s Broadway credits include Doubt (2005 Tony Award Best Performance by  Featured Actress in a Play), Caroline or Change, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Dreamgirls, The Buddy Holly Story, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Kiss Me Kate, and Fascinatin’ Rhythm.

Cheyenne Jackson’s Broadway credits include XANADU, All Shook Up, 24 Hour Plays, On the 20th Century, Aida, and Thoroughly Modern Millie.
