Sonia Plumb Dance Company Presents "The Dance of da Vinci"April 21 - April 22

An exciting Sonia Plumb Dance Company Premiere! Using Leonardo’s notebooks as her source of inspiration, choreographer Sonia Plumb explores the artist’s relationship with Renaissance Humanism and the inextricable connection between science and art. This collaboration of dance, music and song features City Singers of Hartford, who join the dancers on stage, performing acapella songs, Renaissance-era selections and new music by Michael Wall. Be moved by works such as Rituals, Reverence and Confessions, sparked by Leonardo’s ecclesiastical architectural drawings and the influence of religion on his work and life; Clock Gears, an homage to the artist’s inventions; Storks, based on Leonardo’s eloquent observations and emotional sketches of humans and animals; and Vitruvian Quartet, a methodical study of movement that quickly becomes a fast-paced dance for four. Come early to enjoy a signature Dance of da Vinci cocktail while listening to the sweet sounds of Italian madrigals.
