Choir Meets Broadway Tour
In 2005, The Kampala Children's Centre was founded in Uganda to provide a home - and hope - to that country's vulnerable victims of war, poverty, and disease. Coming from many different tribes with different languages, the children often couldn't communicate with each other or their house mothers. But they could sing, and through music begin to heal. The Destiny Africa Children's Choir was formed in 2007 and today travels through the world, performing in schools, churches, and theaters, all in support of the Centre and its mission.
On August 16, 2018, the choir attended Disney's The Lion King at The Bushnell. They were invited to perform for arriving patrons. After the performance, Destiny Africa students met with members of The Lion King company and sang for them. The choir immediately formed a bond with The Lion King performers, many who are from South Africa.
